Week 7 - Regular Season Finale vs. Riffel
A promising first half turned into disappointment by game's end. Moving the ball effectively on Offense, but penalties left the Redmen spinning their wheels and unable to put any majors on the board. A well prepared defense eventually weakened and sloppy tackling allowed the Royals to find the endzone twice in the second half en route to a 22-3 victory.

Week 6
Another win by the Redmen over Knoll. The windy conditions played a factor early, allowing the Knoll kicker to sail the ball into the endzone for a single point from the opening kickoff. The Redmen offense went to work and racked up yardage and scores from Ryan Schienbein and Brady Reid. The first half ended with an electric punt return touchdown from Schienbein. The Redmen D stayed strong and after interceptions from Eric Despins and Aiden Larsen, the Redmen found themselves celebrating a 27-10 victory. This week, Riffel on Friday at 730 at Mosaic Stadium.

Week 5
College Avenue Cup week vs. Miller
A questionable start, running 2 offensive plays, giving up a touchdown and safety seemed to light a fire under the Redmen offense. After being down 9-0 after Q1, the Redmen scored 2 quick touchdowns and moved the ball effectively while slowing the Miller offense. More of the same in the second half allowed the Redmen to seal a 26-9 victory and return home with the College Avenue Cup.

Week 4
All sorts of hype surrounded the Friday night game vs. homecoming. A chill in the air, but optimism running wild on the Balfour sidelines. After a tight first quarter and a half, a small blowup allowed the Tartans to score 14 quick points and gain some distance from their homecoming rivals. The Redmen tightened up in the second half and made it interesting in the final quarter, but ended up with losing 34-20.

Week 2
A tough loss against a strong Leboldus team let the Redmen know how much work they need to put in to succeed and compete with teams of that calibre. A bye week lets us get back to basics and get some of the late additions to the team up to speed.

Week 1
A tough loss for the Redmen, 39-22 to the Luther Lions. The game was back and forth, but in the end, the heat and exhaustion took it's toll on the outnumbered Balfour players. Bright spots on the field were Ryan Schienbein scoring two touchdowns on 18 carries and racking up 193 yards. Justice Taylor threw a touchdown to Tyrel Latoski, finishing with 122 yards passing. Nolan Spence and Luke Wilson drew some huge cheers for their bone crushing hits. Next up for the boys in Red, LeBoldus - Friday September 13 at Leibel Field (515pm).

schedule.

“Performance Testing” was part of the ID camp and tests the speed, strength and power of athletes helping in the
ID process. In 2013 these tests will be separate from the ID camps and players can be tested on March 24th in
Saskatoon or April 7th in Moose Jaw. It will be $50 for “Performance testing” camp which will be run like the
NFL/CFL combine camps. To Register for these camps go to www.footballsaskatchewan.ca

Special Teams Player - RB Matt Frass
Lineman - Entire Offensive Line & Defensive Lines
Hit of the Game - LB Kris Charuk
Practice Player of the Week - LB Emilio Bear & DB Bryce Martindale
The Redmen, coming off an emotional Quarter Final win, were looking to jump out early and press down field. They did just that as Brady Mackay found the endzone on the opening drive. Unfortunately, an offside penalty negated the score and the Redmen came up short on their 3rd down attempt. In the first half, Riffel would find themselves up 12-0 on 2 uncoverted touchdowns despite the defenses best efforts. With just 2 minutes remaining in the 1st half the Balfour Redmen needed to respond, and they did. A brilliant catch by Riley Hadiken moved the ball into Riffel territory and the Redmen offense finished a 3 play drive with a TD pass that stood up, to Brady Mackay. Trailing 12-7 at half time the Redmen had momentum on their side and were looking to repeat last weeks come from behind victory. Unfortunately, the Redmen had some costly turnovers and some close plays that didnt go their way (Fake Punt attempt) in the second half. Behind a great Offensive Line, RB Mason Rossler and the Riffel Royals would keep to their potent rushing attack and eventually pull away in the latter stages of the 4th Quarter. Great effort by everyone... certainly was not the result we were looking for but everyone can be proud of the successes we did have in this game and throughout the year.

Lineman - n/a
Hit of the Game - LB Kris Charuk
Practice Player of the Week - DB Spencer Brightman
The Balfour Redmen (4-1) tasted defeat for the first time of the season in week 5 to the Campbell Tartans (4-1). The Redmen got off to a nightmare start in the first half that saw 3 turnorvers, a bad break on a scoring play and numerous penalties on both sides of the ball. The score was 12-0 at half, 10 of those points being scored off turnovers. The Redmen were hoping to forget the 1st half and come out firing in the second half. On the opening kickoff of the 2nd half the Redmen took two 15 yard penalties. This would sum up most of the evening as Campbell would go on to a well earned 24-0 victory. The schedule does not get any easier as the Redmen face Leboldus and Riffel in the last two weeks of regular season play.
